LATVIAN FARM BIRD ASSOCIATION
About The Project
The association assigned me the task of creating a user-friendly website with a minimalistic design with a little twist that works well on different devices. A crucial part of the website's design was to include a filter system to help easily find information about specific bird breeds. In the absence of photo content, I created illustrations and assisted in finding photos from Getty Images.
THE START OF THE DESIGN PROCESS
Identifying Problems and Finding Solutions
The association identified the need for websites that focus specifically on farm bird enthusiasts. They needed a solution that would not only present information about different breeds in an organized and concise manner but also feature a responsive design to ensure a seamless experience for users who read blogs and online magazines on mobile or tablet devices.
The primary challenge was to design a website that maintained its elegant simplicity while incorporating a powerful and user-centric filter system. This filter needed to be intuitive and effective, enabling users to quickly find detailed information on a wide range of bird breeds without any hassle.
For this project, I created user flow and wireframes to clarify navigation, and to identify usability issues early. During the project, certain aspects of the layout design changed.
The Hero sections include a clear headline that communicates the main value of the website and a call to action button
The website is focused on publishing blog articles and descriptions of farm birds. Witch sums up a significant portion of the text. Therefore readability is key for this website. Using Open Sans typography for paragraph text gives off professionalism and good readability while being timeless and versatile.
The filtering system for the Farm Bird Association website is a heart feature. You can look up birds and sort them by 12 main categories, each with additional options. The filtering updates occur instantly and are responsive to all devices, ensuring that your farm bird encyclopedia is always accessible, whether you're looking up new breeds or need in-depth information about birds.
For this project, I used my illustration skills to make some cool and friendly illustrations for the website, giving it a more friendly and engaging vibe instead of using stock photos
