About The Project
We set out to create a new mobile app that would unite features like calendar, messages, event creator, and date poll. The main goal of this mobile app is to design a new product that would focus on creating events. This project was undertaken while I was a student at Experience Hause London, where I did my UX & UI course in 2022. We worked on real-life client briefs.
During the course, we conducted market research, understanding the target audience and the process of creating personas. User interviews, surveys and testing were a big part of this project.
THE START OF THE DESIGN PROCESS
Identifying Problems
We discussed several challenges while organising events, especially larger ones where attendees aren't familiar with each other.
- In large groups, users' phone numbers were visible, posing privacy risks
- Important messages often got lost in busy chat groups
- Active chat rooms could overwhelm users who weren't actively participating
- Difficulty managing event-related information
Finding Solutions
In response to the issues raised, we have implemented a solution that offers settings options for each app user. This empowers users to customize and adjust the settings to best suit their preferences and requirements.
For our mobile app, we developed several user flows. Here, you can see two examples: one for creating an event and another for accepting an event. Designing these user flows was crucial for understanding users' steps when making or accepting event invitations. The user flows gave us a clear vision of what the wireframes should look like and identified key functionalities to solve user problems.
For instance, we addressed issues like:
-Managing excessive message notifications from large groups
-Preventing important event information from getting lost in busy chat rooms
Before finalizing the designs, we created several wireframes and developed a basic prototype. This allowed us to conduct user testing, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
We collected feedback during our user testing phase that helped shape our final design. Here are some key insights:
Intuitive Navigation: Users appreciated the straightforward and intuitive navigation, making it easy to find what they needed quickly.
Functionality: Feedback pointed out that certain interactive elements needed more clarity and responsiveness.
Users were happy with the size of the button - the larger button makes it easier to use.
Content Clarity: Users suggested simplifying some of the content for better readability and understanding.
Incorporating these insights allowed us to improve the overall user experience, ensuring our design is functional and visually engaging.
While designing the mobile app, we researched and implemented best practices for the UI elements to ensure a seamless user experience. When the mouse enters an input field title appears above the line, reminding users of the required information.
